What to consider for your home

Share drawings, elevations, wall sections and the intended opening schedule. Confirm frame depth, sill support, flashing and the transition between the window and wall control layers with the project team.

An early product selection does not replace final dimensional review. Coordinate delivery access, storage and installation sequencing so completed units are protected as other trades finish the work.

02

Your specification checklist

  • Drawing and opening schedule review
  • Wall and flashing coordination
  • Final dimension approval
  • Delivery and trade sequencing
03

Turn the information into a practical choice

Bring room photographs, approximate opening dimensions and the questions that prompted your project. In the showroom, compare physical samples rather than judging the product from a screen alone.

The home estimate connects those choices to the existing opening. A complete quote identifies the selected configuration, installation method and finishing, so you can compare like with like.

04

Coordinate the window with the wall before finishes

New-construction window planning connects the opening schedule to the wall assembly. Rough openings, support, installation position and water-management transitions should be resolved with the builder before the exterior and interior finishes conceal those connections.

The approved schedule should show each opening’s location, operating direction, dimensions, profile, glass and finish. Fixed and operable units can be mixed intentionally, but a substitution in one location may change ventilation, sightlines or hardware clearance.

Delivery sequencing also belongs in the plan. Large units need a safe handling route and protected storage. Confirm who measures, who approves drawings and who installs each transition so responsibility is clear when several trades work around the same opening.
