Choose around the way you live

A sliding vinyl configuration can provide backyard access while keeping furniture clear of a swing path. Look at visible frame proportions, handle location, screen travel and the amount of opening space.

The chosen glass package, finish and panel dimensions must be compatible. Ask for the applicable performance data and confirm what is included in the installation and finishing around the existing opening.

Configurations and the complete opening
Design choiceWhat the drawing should establish
Standard sliding useCompare the fixed and moving panel arrangement, not just the frame material.
Glazing packagePane count, coating and spacer must match the approved vinyl door model.
Frame finishSelect room-side and exterior treatment from supported options and review colour-specific care.
Screen and hardwareIdentify the roller/support system, lock and screen as part of the quotation.
03

Construction, glazing and hardware

Vinyl describes the frame material, while sliding describes the movement. A vinyl patio door should therefore be compared with another complete vinyl system at the same panel size, glass specification and installation scope.

The profile chambers, reinforcement and joining construction contribute to the frame design. The sill must support the moving panel and manage water; a frame material alone cannot describe the performance of the finished opening.

A patio door can carry substantially more glass than a small window. Compare the full-door rating and operating hardware instead of applying a window specification to a similar-looking profile.

Glass, privacy and finishing

Door glazing changes both the appearance and the view into your home. Compare clear, textured and decorative options under light, and consider the position of sidelites and transoms at different times of day.

Choose finishes and hardware together. Ask which interior and exterior colours, handles, locks and screen options are supported by the selected system. Product drawings and physical samples help resolve details that a small catalogue image cannot show.

Installation details for this system

Review the existing frame condition and floor transition before assuming the replacement fits the old trim. Changes in frame depth can affect casing, flooring edges and the relationship to a deck.

At handover, verify the moving panel, lock, screen and drainage access. Keep the model and glass information so a future service enquiry can identify the actual assembly.

A person operates a glazed patio-door panel in the showroom. The view shows how the moving panel changes the opening and how the hardware is used. The demonstrated assembly is a reference and does not establish the specification of every patio system.
