02

Choose for the actual opening

A kitchen layout is a useful example: reach the operator from the actual working position and check what lies beyond the sash. A window that looks right in elevation can still conflict with a path or landscaping outside.

Both configurations can be combined with fixed glass. Review the complete arrangement, including aligned grilles and frame proportions, rather than selecting each unit independently.

03

Bring your comparison into the showroom

Bring a photograph of the room and note what is not working now: light, airflow, access, appearance or comfort. A useful consultation narrows the options using those priorities instead of adding every possible upgrade.

Once the configuration is chosen, review dimensions, glass, finish, hardware, installation and finishing on the written quote. Equivalent scope is the basis of a fair price comparison.

04

Apply the comparison to a real room

Above a kitchen sink, test the reach to the crank and locks from the normal standing position. A horizontal opening may suit an awning layout, while a taller opening may suit a casement. Outside, trace the moving sash against the path, deck or planting.

Both systems use a projecting sash, but the direction of that projection differs. The overhang of an awning is not permission to leave it open in every weather condition. Decide how the window will be used and reached, then compare compatible hardware and glass.
